Two Paramecia.

These two organisms are the single-celled protozoan Paramecium. Their bodies are covered with cilia which propel them through the water and create a current which brings food particles to their mouths, located about half way along their bodies.

They feed mainly on bacteria, and they, along with other ciliates, are largely responsible for removing the bacteria from organically polluted waters.

Neither of these Paramecia are exactly in the plane of focus, so click the link for a clearer view and more information on Paramecium.
